Abstract:
Critical infrastructure rarely fails alone. CIMAS (Critical Infrastructure Mapping and Analysis Substrate), hosted by Carleton University’s NC-CIPSeR, integrates 113 data sources into three linked views of interdependency: geospatial assets and hazards, input-output supply-chain flows, and data/telecom dependencies, including complete coverage of Canada, the United States and Mexico. This talk and live demonstration traces cascading impacts from a single disruption, such as a port closure, flood or trade cut-off, and shows how AI functions turn plain-language questions into prioritised asset lists, risk assessments and exercise scenarios, shortening time-to-value for decision support. We discuss methods, data provenance, open-source release, and opportunities for joint resilience research.
