The Effects of Network Topology on the Performance of Probe Schedulers

One strategy to monitor the performance of a network is to send test packets (or probes) periodically to check for faults or latency. The selection and schedule of probes should provide some balance between frequently testing vital links and minimizing any strain on the network. We investigate how features of the network topology affect the performance of some common probe scheduling choices.
