About the 2017 Annual Meeting

Members of the CCICADA research and partnership communities are cordially invited to the ninth CCICADA-wide Annual Meeting, which will be hosted by and held at Howard University in beautiful and historic Washington DC.  We encourage all researchers, research specialists, post-doctoral associates, and affiliated students from across all partner institutions working on CCICADA projects to share their experiences and perspectives at this exciting gathering.  We also find great value in the attendance and engagement of our government and other Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE) partners in the annual event and its program activities. CCICADA Excellent!

The goal of the 2017 Annual Meeting is to bring together the numerous and diverse members of the CCICADA research and HSE partner communities who are currently engaged in the center’s research, technology development, deployment and use of that technology, and education projects and other activities.  This year’s event will also focus on CCICADA ‘looking forward’, a strategic road map to the future through the fostering of new HSE relationships, addressing emerging problem and HSE priority areas and developing a broader range of applied and theoretical research expertise and collaborations.

At this year’s annual meeting, CCICADA will explore and relate how its research and education activities over the past eight years have and will continue to serve as a platform for addressing crucial research questions about homeland security and how this research can advance the homeland security mission space.  Within its rich research/technology transfer portfolio, CCICADA has pioneered the integration of rigorous analytics with techniques of elicitation, interviewing and focus group research. This combination ensures that those rigorous analytics are answering the right questions, to advance the HSE goals and successful outcomes.

Again, this year’s program will be held at CCICADA partner Howard University in Washington DC, and will feature both recent research/education discussions and panels including researchers and key policy/decision-makers in the US Government and the private sector.  As always, the CCICADA Annual Meeting provides an opportunity for all CCICADA researchers to share their work through talks, poster presentations and technology demonstrations as part of the event program.   The program schedule will also be designed to include time to promote, networking interaction and discussion.  The meeting will include dinner on May 18th with a to-be-determined invited speaker, panel or discussion.  The agenda will continue on May 19th concluding late that afternoon.

Call for Participation

We strongly encourage anyone who has worked with CCICADA, including all CCICADA affiliated researchers, research associates, post-doctoral associates and students, to submit abstracts for talks, posters or demonstrations for consideration and possible inclusion in the program. Please submit your abstract by NO LATER THAN Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Abstracts submitted after April 19th  may not be selected, in spite of merit.
